Beads and Coins from Kaushambi

Beads:

Kaushambi has yielded a large variety of beads. They are cut in precious and semi-precious stones of different hues and shapes. The people appear to have some belief in magic and totemism. Quite a good number of animal shaped beads have also been found and they were perhaps worn for bringing good luck or protection from the evil. No animal bead has yet been identified in the available terracotta-figurines of Kaushambi but beads of other shapes found in original can be easily spooted out.

Coins:

The coins discovered at Kaushambi are widely distributed in the range of time. These include punchmarked coins the uninscribed cast copper coins and the coins of local kings including the Mitra and Magha rulers. The figures and symbols on these coins: attest to the high workmanship and artistic sense of the persons who made them.
