This study deals with the history of Bihar and Eastern Uttar Pradesh (Northern India) taking into account the history and philosophy of Buddhism. Since the sixth century B.C. many developments took place in these regions, in terms of society, economic life, religion and arts and crafts....

The monks are addressed as bhante by the members of the extended kin-groups and also offer salutations (abhidaveti). The members of the extended kin-groups are addressed with their personal names by the monks, but sometimes avuso is added as a prefix to the names.[1] While addressing the Mallas, the monks Anuruddha and ananda use the Mallagotta affiliation. Vasettha; in the case of the Koliyans ananda uses their totemic name, Vyagghapajja.[2]
