15. Rudra in Pravargya ceremony of the Soma sacrifice

In the Kauṣītaki Brāhmaṇa, Rudra is earnestly supplicated along with Pūṣan in the context of Pravargya ceremony. During the Pravargya ceremony of the Soma sacrifice, the Adhvaryu offers oblation to Pūṣan and Rudra with a gold (hiraṇya) and silver (rajata) chips (śakala).[1]

The Adhvaryu utters two mantras addressing to Pūṣan and Rudra as—

“Pure is one of them, worthy of sacrifice one’ and ‘Worthily does thou bear the missile and the bow’; verily with these two he accompanies the call of Hail! to Pūṣan and to Rudra.”[2]
