The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 3.5.2; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

निवृत्तानुपयोगित्वाद् दुरूहत्वाद् अयं रसः ।
रहस्यत्वाच् च संक्षिप्य वितताण्गो विलिख्यते ॥३.५.२॥

nivṛttānupayogitvād durūhatvād ayaṃ rasaḥ |
rahasyatvāc ca saṃkṣipya vitatāṇgo vilikhyate
||3.5.2||

English translation

“Though this rasa has many components, it will be described in summary because it is difficult to describe, because it is very confidential, and because it is unsuitable for those who do not have a taste for madhura-rasa, since it appears similar to the rasa of mundane love.”
