The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 3.2.128; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

अशिवत्वान् न घटते भक्ते कुत्राप्य् असौ मृतिः ।
क्षोभकत्वाद् वियोगस्य जात-प्रायेति कथ्यते ॥३.२.१२८॥

aśivatvān na ghaṭate bhakte kutrāpy asau mṛtiḥ |
kṣobhakatvād viyogasya jāta-prāyeti kathyate ||3.2.128||

English translation

“Because of its inauspiciousness, death is impossible for these [nitya-siddha] devotees. But when there are death-like symptoms caused by extreme disturbance due to separation from Kṛṣṇa, it is called mṛti.”
