The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 3.2.7; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

तत्र हरिः —
आलम्बनो’स्मिन् द्विभुजः कृष्णो गोकुल-वासिषु ।
अन्यत्र द्वि-भुजः क्वापि कुत्राप्य् एषु चतुर्-भुजः ॥३.२.७॥

tatra hariḥ —
ālambano’smin dvibhujaḥ kṛṣṇo gokula-vāsiṣu |
anyatra dvi-bhujaḥ kvāpi kutrāpy eṣu catur-bhujaḥ ||3.2.7||

English translation

“The two-armed form of Kṛṣṇa is the ālambana for the inhabitants of Gokula, and the two-armed or four-armed form of Kṛṣṇa is the ālambana for the devotees of Kṛṣṇa residing elsewhere.”
