The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 2.4.202; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

त्रास-निद्रा-श्रमालस्य-मद-भिद्-बोध-वर्जिनाम् ।
सञ्चारिणाम् इह क्वापि भवेद् रत्य्-अनुभावता ॥२.४.२०२॥

trāsa-nidrā-śramālasya-mada-bhid-bodha-varjinām |
sañcāriṇām iha kvāpi bhaved raty-anubhāvatā
||2.4.202||

English translation

“The vyābhicārī-bhāvas of trāsa (terror), nidrā (sleep), śrama (disturbance), ālasya (lack of enthusiasm) and māda (madness) arise from intoxication, and bodha arises somewhat as as the effect of rati.”
