यम॑श्विना द॒दथु॑: श्वे॒तमश्व॑म॒घाश्वा॑य॒ शश्व॒दित्स्व॒स्ति । तद्वां॑ दा॒त्रं महि॑ की॒र्तेन्यं॑ भूत्पै॒द्वो वा॒जी सद॒मिद्धव्यो॑ अ॒र्यः ॥
यमश्विना ददथुः श्वेतमश्वमघाश्वाय शश्वदित्स्वस्ति । तद्वां दात्रं महि कीर्तेन्यं भूत्पैद्वो वाजी सदमिद्धव्यो अर्यः ॥
yam aśvinā dadathuḥ śvetam aśvam aghāśvāya śaśvad it svasti | tad vāṃ dātram mahi kīrtenyam bhūt paidvo vājī sadam id dhavyo aryaḥ ||
English translation:
“Aśvins, the white horse you gave to Pedu, whose horses were indestrucible, was ever to him success; that, your precious gift, is always to be celebrated; the horse of Pedu, the scatterer (of enemies), is always to be invoked.”
Commentary by Sāyaṇa: Ṛgveda-bhāṣya
Pedu was a rājaṛṣi, who worshipped the Aśvins; therefore, they gave him a white horse, possessing which, he was always victorious over his enemies.
