श॒तमिन्नु श॒रदो॒ अन्ति॑ देवा॒ यत्रा॑ नश्च॒क्रा ज॒रसं॑ त॒नूना॑म् । पु॒त्रासो॒ यत्र॑ पि॒तरो॒ भव॑न्ति॒ मा नो॑ म॒ध्या री॑रिष॒तायु॒र्गन्तो॑: ॥
शतमिन्नु शरदो अन्ति देवा यत्रा नश्चक्रा जरसं तनूनाम् । पुत्रासो यत्र पितरो भवन्ति मा नो मध्या रीरिषतायुर्गन्तोः ॥
śatam in nu śarado anti devā yatrā naś cakrā jarasaṃ tanūnām | putrāso yatra pitaro bhavanti mā no madhyā rīriṣatāyur gantoḥ ||
English translation:
“Since a hundred years were appointed (for the life of man), interpose not, gods, in the midst of our passing existence, by inflicting infirmity in our bodies so that our sons become our sires (i.e. let us not become so feeble and firm as to be, infants and to require the paternal care of our own sons].”
