The Garga-samhita Verse 6.10.16, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. This is verse 6 of Chapter 10 (In the Description of the Gomati River, the Glories of Cakra-tirtha) of Canto 6 (dvaraka-khanda).

Sanskrit text, transliteration and word-by-word meaning:

प्रेम-लक्शणया भक्त्या
हरि-पाद-कृताश्रयः
सस्मार श्री-हरिं देवं
मृत्यु-पाश-वशं गतः

prema-lakśaṇayā bhaktyā
hari-pāda-kṛtāśrayaḥ
sasmāra śrī-hariṃ devaṃ
mṛtyu-pāśa-vaśaṃ gataḥ

prema-lakśaṇayā—characterized by love; bhaktyā—with devotion; hari-pāda- kṛtāśrayaḥ—takign shelter of Lord Hari's lotus feet; sasmāra—remembered; śrī- harim—Lord Hari; devam—the Lord; mṛtyu-pāśa-vaśam—subdued by the ropes of death; gataḥ—attained.

English translation of verse 6.10.16:

Finding himself almost caught in the noose of death, the elephant remembered his previous birth and took shelter of the feet of the Supreme Personality of Godhead.
