करेणवश् च कलभास्
तं तारयितुम् अक्शमाः
एवं तयोर् युध्यतोश् च
कर्शतोर् हि बहिर् मिथः
kareṇavaś ca kalabhās
taṃ tārayitum akśamāḥ
evaṃ tayor yudhyatoś ca
karśator hi bahir mithaḥ
kareṇavaḥ—the female elephants; ca—and; kalabhāḥ—the children; tam—him; tārayitum—to rescue; akśamāḥ—unable; evam—thus; tayoḥ—of them both; yudhyatoḥ—fighting; ca—and; karśatoḥ—dragging; hi—indeed; bahiḥ—out; mithaḥ—each other.
English translation of verse 6.10.14:
The female elephants and their children had no power to rescue the regal elephant. Dragging each other in and out of the water, the elephant and the crocodile fought.
