The Garga-samhita Verse 6.10.14, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. This is verse 6 of Chapter 10 (In the Description of the Gomati River, the Glories of Cakra-tirtha) of Canto 6 (dvaraka-khanda).

Sanskrit text, transliteration and word-by-word meaning:

करेणवश् च कलभास्
तं तारयितुम् अक्शमाः
एवं तयोर् युध्यतोश् च
कर्शतोर् हि बहिर् मिथः

kareṇavaś ca kalabhās
taṃ tārayitum akśamāḥ
evaṃ tayor yudhyatoś ca
karśator hi bahir mithaḥ

kareṇavaḥ—the female elephants; ca—and; kalabhāḥthe children; tam—him; tārayitum—to rescue; akśamāḥ—unable; evam—thus; tayoḥ—of them both; yudhyatoḥ—fighting; ca—and; karśatoḥ—dragging; hi—indeed; bahiḥout; mithaḥ—each other.

English translation of verse 6.10.14:

The female elephants and their children had no power to rescue the regal elephant. Dragging each other in and out of the water, the elephant and the crocodile fought.
