तथा वै दमघोषस्य
शिशुपालाय वै द्विजाः
चक्रुः शान्तिं परं पूर्वं
रक्षा-बन्धन-रूपिणीम्

tathā vai damaghoṣasya
śiśupālāya vai dvijāḥ
cakruḥ śāntiṃ paraṃ pūrvaṃ
rakṣā-bandhana-rūpiṇīm

tathā—so; vai—indeed; dāmaghoṣasya—Of Damaghosa; śiśupālāya—to Sisupala; vai—indeed; dvijāḥ—brāhmaṇas; cakruḥ—did; śāntim—peace; param—grat; pūrvam—before; rakṣā-bandhana-rūpiṇīm—for protection.

English translation of verse 6.4.34:

Then, on Damaghoṣa's order, the brāhmaṇas gave a protective amulet to Śiśupāla.
