The Garga-samhita Verse 6.2.5, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. This is verse 6 of Chapter 2 (Residence in Shri Dvaraka) of Canto 6 (dvaraka-khanda).

Sanskrit text, transliteration and word-by-word meaning:

एवं सप्त-दश कृत्वा
क्षीण-सैन्यो जरा-सुतः
अष्ट-दशम-सङ्ग्रामे
आगन्तुं च मनो ऽकरोत्

evaṃ sapta-daśa kṛtvā
kṣīṇa-sainyo jarā-sutaḥ
aṣṭa-daśama-saṅgrāme
āgantuṃ ca mano 'karot

evam—thus; sapta-daśa17; kṛtvā—making; kṣīṇa-sainyaḥ—destroyed army; jarā-sutaḥ—Jarasandha; aṣṭa-daśama-saṅgrāme—in the eighteenth battle; āgantum—to go; ca—and; manaḥ—mind; akarot—did.

English translation of verse 6.2.5:

Even though his army had been destroyed seventeen times in this way, Jarāsandha still fixed his mind on an eighteenth war.
