The Garga-samhita Verse 5.17.7, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. स्रि-व्र्न्दवन-पलिक उचुह् अनिमित्तम् प्रेम-सौख्यम् अनिमित्तो हि वेत्ति तत् स-निमित्तो न जनति रसम् कर्मेन्द्रियम् यथ स्रि-व्र्न्दवन-पलिक

sri-vrndavana-palika ucuh animittam prema-saukhyam animitto hi vetti tat sa-nimitto na janati rasam karmendriyam yatha sri-vrndavana-palika

ucuh—the protectors of Sri Vrndavana said; animittam—causeless; prema-saukhyam—the happiness of love; animittah—causeless; hi—indeed; vettiknows; tat—that; sa-nimittah—with a cause; na—not; janati—knows; rasam—the taste; karmendriyam—the working senses; yatha—as.

English translation of verse 5.17.7:

The gopi protectors of Sri Vrndavana said: One who loves selflessly can understand selfless love. A selfish person cannot understand it, as arms and legs cannot understand the sweetness of nectar.
