हित्व विद्यम् चध्ययनम् जपम् तेन सहैव ते गत्व बलेर् मल्ल-युद्धम् सदचिक्सन् मदोद्धतह्

hitva vidyam cadhyayanam japam tena sahaiva te gatva baler malla-yuddham sadaciksan madoddhatah

hitvaabandoning; vidyam—knowledge; ca—and; adhyayanam—study; japam—chanting; tena—by him; sahawith; eva—indeed; te—they; gatva—going; baleh—of Bali; malla-yuddham—wrestling; sadaalways; aciksan—- studied; madoddhatah—wild.

English translation of verse 5.12.3:

Abandoning their studies and mantra-chanting, these wild sons went to King Bali's wrestling camp and studied wrestling daily.
