श्री-नारद उवाच
एवम् अश्रु-मुखीर् दीना
आश्वास्य नृप-योषितः
विधाय यमुना-तीरे
चिताः श्रीखण्ड-सम्युताः

śrī-nārada uvāca
evam aśru-mukhīr dīnā
āśvāsya nṛpa-yoṣitaḥ
vidhāya yamunā-tīre
citāḥ śrīkhaṇḍa-samyutāḥ

śrī-nārada uvāca—Śrī Nārada said; evam—thus; aśru-mukhīḥfaces filled with tears; dīnāpathetic; āśvāsyacomforting; nṛpa-yoṣitaḥ—the queens; vidhāya—placing; yamunā-tīre—on the Yamuna shore; citāḥ—a funeral pyre; śrīkhaṇḍa-samyutāḥ—made of sandal wood.

English translation of verse 5.8.51:

Śrī Nārada said: After consoling the poor tear-faced queens, the Lord built a sandalwood funeral pyre on the Yamunā's shore.
