The Garga-samhita Verse 5.7.9, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. This is verse 5 of Chapter 7 (The Killing of Kuvalayapida) of Canto 5 (mathura-khanda).

Sanskrit text, transliteration and word-by-word meaning:

दश-हस्तोच्छ्रितं सश्वद्
विश्वकर्म-विनिर्मितम्
तदारुह्य बभौ कंसो
ऽद्रि-शृङ्गे मृगराड् इव

daśa-hastocchritaṃ saśvad
viśvakarma-vinirmitam
tadāruhya babhau kaṃso
'dri-śṛṅge mṛgarāḍ iva

daśa-hasta—ten hastal ucchritaṃexpanded; saśvat—always; viśvakarma-vinirmitam—made by Viśvakarmā; tadāthen; āruhya—ascending; babhau—was manifested; kaṃsaḥKaṃsa; adri-śṛṅge—on a mountaintop; mṛgarāḍ—a lion; iva—like.

English translation of verse 5.7.9:

It was ten hastas high and was made by Viśvakarmā. At that moment Kaṃsa ascended the throne. He was like a lion on a mountaintop.

Note: One hasta is the distance between the elbow and the middle finger.
