The Garga-samhita Verse 4.9.23, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. श्री-नारद उवाच
इति राधा-मुखाच् छ्रुत्वा
यज्ञ-सीताश् च गोपिकाः
एकादशी-व्रतं चक्रुर्
विधिवत् कृष्ण-लालसाः

śrī-nārada uvāca
iti rādhā-mukhāc chrutvā
yajña-sītāś ca gopikāḥ
ekādaśī-vrataṃ cakrur
vidhivat kṛṣṇa-lālasāḥ

śrī-nārada uvāca—Srī Nārada said; iti—thus; rādhā-mukhāc—from Rādhā's mouth; chrutvā—hearing; yajña-sītāḥ—the yajna-sitas; ca—and; gopikāḥ—gopīs; ekādaśī-vratam—ekādaśī; cakruḥ—did; vidhivatproperly; kṛṣṇa-lālasāḥ—yearing to attain Srī Kṛṣṇa.

English translation of verse 4.9.23:

Srī Nārada said: After hearing from Srī Rādhā's mouth the glories of ekādaśī, the gopīs that had been yajña-sītās, and who were now yearning to attain Srī Kṛṣṇa, carefully followed ekādaśī.
