गोपीनां हार-सञ्चयम्
पृथक् चकार गोविन्दः
स्पृष्ट्वा तासाम् उरः-स्थलम्
गोपीनां नासिका-मुक्ता-
वलिं तत्-कुन्तलं स्वयम्
शनैः शनैः शोभनं तच्
चक्रे श्री-नन्द-नन्दनः
ताम्बूलं चर्वितं ह्य् अर्धं
नीत्वा सद्यो ऽथ गोपिकाः
चर्वयन्त्यः सुगन्धाढ्यं
अहो तासां तपो महत्
काश्चिच् छ्याम-कपोलेषु
द्व्य्-अङ्गुलेन शनैः शनैः
हसन्त्यस् ताडयन्त्यस् ताः
कदम्बेषु बलात् पृथक्

English translation of verses 2.24.19-22:

Hidden by the flowering vines, Kṛṣṇa decorated some gopīs, gently touching their hair, nose-pearl, and breasts. He gave very fragrant half-chewed betelnuts to some gopīs and they chewed them. This happened because they had performed many pious activities in the past. Among the kadamba trees some gopīs smiled and with two fingers stroked Kṛṣṇa's dark cheeks.
