श्री-भगवान् उवाच
हे गोप्यः पुष्कर-द्वीपे
हंसो नाम महा-मुनिः
समुद्रे दधि-मन्दोदे
ततापान्तर्-गतस् तपः
śrī-bhagavān uvāca
he gopyaḥ puṣkara-dvīpe
haṃso nāma mahā-muniḥ
samudre dadhi-mandode
tatāpāntar-gatas tapaḥ
śrī-bhagavān uvāca—The Supreme Personality of Godhead said; he—O; gopyaḥ—gopīs; puṣkara-dvīpe—on Puṣkara-dvīpa; haṃsaḥ—Haṃsa; nāma—named; mahā—great; muniḥ—sage; samudre—in the ocean; dadhi-mandode—of yogurt; tatāpa—performed austerities; antar-gataḥ——gone in; tapaḥ—austerities.
English translation of verse 2.22.18:
The Supreme Personality of Godhead said: O gopīs, on Puṣkara-dvīpa there is a great sage named Haṃsa who performed austerities while submerged in the ocean of yogurt.
