The Garga-samhita Verse 2.18.12, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. This is verse 2 of Chapter 18 (The Sight of Shri Krishnacandra) of Canto 2 (vrindavana-khanda).

यो मित्रतां निष्कपटं करोति
निष्कारणं धन्यतमः स एव
विधाय मैत्रीं कपटं विदध्यात्
तं लम्पटं हेतु-पटं नटं धिक्

yo mitratāṃ niṣkapaṭaṃ karoti
niṣkāraṇaṃ dhanyatamaḥ sa eva
vidhāya maitrīṃ kapaṭaṃ vidadhyāt
taṃ lampaṭaṃ hetu-paṭaṃ naṭaṃ dhik

yaḥ—one who; mitratām—friendship; niṣkapaṭam—sincere; karotidoes; niṣkāraṇam—unmotivated; dhanyatamaḥ—the most fortunate; sa—sh; eva—indeed; vidhāya—placing; maitrīm—friendship; kapaṭam—false; vidadhyāt—places; tam—that; lampaṭam—cheater; hetu-paṭam—false reason; naṭam—and actor; dhik—fie.

English translation of verse 2.18.12:

One who is a sincere, unselfish friend is glorious. One who is not sincere in her friendship is a cheater, or an actor. Fie on her!
