The Garga-samhita Verse 2.6.26, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. This is verse 2 of Chapter 6 (The Liberation of Aghasura) of Canto 2 (vrindavana-khanda).

Sanskrit text, transliteration and word-by-word meaning:

तस्माद् दानं प्रकर्तव्यं
सर्वारिष्ट-निवारणम्
दानात् परं तु कल्याणं
न भूतं न भविष्यति

tasmād dānaṃ prakartavyaṃ
sarvāriṣṭa-nivāraṇam
dānāt paraṃ tu kalyāṇaṃ
na bhūtaṃ na bhaviṣyati

tasmāt—therefore; dānamcharity; prakartavyam—should be given; sarvaall; ariṣṭacalamities; nivāraṇam—dispeling; dānāt—than charity; param—better; tu—indeed; kalyāṇam—good fortune; na—not; bhūtam—manifested; na—not; bhaviṣyati—will be.

English translation of verse 2.6.26:

Therefore charity should be given. That will dispel all calamities. There has never been nor will there ever be a source of good fortune better than giving charity.
