वदित्र-कारा रहिता बभूवुर्
अग्रे स्थिताः स्युस् चकिता हि पश्चात्
सर्वेषु वा श्वेत-मुखेषु सत्सु
शौरिस् तम् आहाशु सतां वरिष्ठः
vaditra-kārā rahitā babhūvur
agre sthitāḥ syus cakitā hi paścāt
sarveṣu vā śveta-mukheṣu satsu
śauris tam āhāśu satāṃ variṣṭhaḥ
vaditra—kārāḥ —musicians; rahitāḥ—without; babhūvuḥ—became; agre-sthitāḥ—in the presence; syuḥ—were; cakitāḥ—afraid; hi—indeed; paścāt—behind; sarveṣu—all; vā—or; śveta—white; mukheṣu—faces; satsu—being so; śauriḥ—Vasudeva; tam—to him; āha—said; āśu—at once; satām—of the devotees; variṣṭhaḥ—the best.
English translation of verse 1.9.15:
The musicians dropped their instruments. They who were in front went to the rear. When all faces turned white, Vasudeva, the best of devotees, spoke to Kaṃsa.
