The Garga-samhita Verse 1.8.5, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. This is verse 1 of Chapter 8 (Description of Shri Radhika’s Birth) of Canto 1 (goloka-khanda).

अथ प्रभोस् तस्य पवित्र-लीलां
सु-मङ्गलां संशृणुतां परस्य
अभूत् सतां यो भुवि रक्षणार्थं
न केवलं कंस-वधाय कृष्णः

atha prabhos tasya pavitra-līlāṃ
su-maṅgalāṃ saṃśṛṇutāṃ parasya
abhūt satāṃ yo bhuvi rakṣaṇārthaṃ
na kevalaṃ kaṃsa-vadhāya kṛṣṇaḥ

athathen; prabhos—of the Lord; tasya—of Him; pavitrapure; līlāṃpastimes; su-maṅgalāṃvery auspicious; saṃśṛṇutāṃ—should be heard; parasya—of the Supreme; abhūt—was; satām—of the devotees; yo—who; bhuvi—the earth; rakṣaṇārthaṃ—to protect; na—not; kevalaṃ—only; kaṃsa-vadhāya—to kill Kaṃsa; kṛṣṇaḥKṛṣṇa.

English translation of verse 1.8.5:

Please hear the purifying pastimes of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. The Lord did not only come to kill Kaṃsa. He also came to protect the devotees.
