वसुश् चैवोद्धवः साक्षाद्
दक्षो ऽक्रूरो दया-परः
हृदीको धनदश् चैव
कृतवर्मा त्व् अपां पतिः
vasuś caivoddhavaḥ sākṣād
dakṣo 'krūro dayā-paraḥ
hṛdīko dhanadaś caiva
kṛtavarmā tv apāṃ patiḥ
vasuḥ—Vasu; ca—also; eva—indeed; uddhavaḥ—Uddhava; sākṣāt—directly;
English translation of verse 1.5.24:
dakṣaḥ—Dakṣa; akrūraḥ—Akrūra; dayā-paraḥ—merciful; hṛdīkaḥ—Hṛdīka;
dhanadaḥ—Kuvera; ca—also; eva—indeed; kṛtavarmā—Kṛtavarmā; tindeed;
apām—of waters; patiḥ—the lord.
Vasu will decsned as Uddhava, Dakṣa as kind Akrūra, Kuvera as Hṛdīka, and Varuṇa as Kṛtavarmā.
