बहुलाश्वः प्रतापवान्
श्री-कृष्ण-भक्तः शान्तात्मा
बभूव निरहङ्कृतिः
mithilā-nāgare pūrvaṃ
bahulāśvaḥ pratāpavān
śrī-kṛṣṇa-bhaktaḥ śāntātmā
babhūva nirahaṅkṛtiḥ
mithilā-nāgare—in Mithilā City; pūrvam—in ancient times; bahulāśvaḥ—Bahulāśva; pratāpavān—powerful; śrī-kṛṣṇa—of Lord Kṛṣṇa; bhaktaḥ—a devotee; śānta—peaceful; ātmā—at heart; babhūva—was; nirahaṅkṛtiḥ—free from false ego.

In the city of Mithilā in ancient times lived a powerful king named Bahulāśva, who was peaceful at heart, free of false ego, and a great devotee of Lord Kṛṣṇa.
