This sculpture is of Rajagopalasvami and his wives Rukmini (right) and Satyabhama (left). Lord Krsna as Rajagopala is holding a rod with a whip in his right hand and his left hand is resting on a cow (hidden behind). His wife Rukmini is holding Katakamukha Hasta with her left hand and her right hand is in Lata. Satyabhama who is on the left is holding Katakamukha with her right hand and her left hand is in Lata. Rajagopala and Rukmini are in Ayata Sthana and Sathyabhama is in Avahittha Sthana.

Kumbakonam is considered as one of the holiest places in Tamil Nadu and is known for its temples and Mathas (monasteries which were centres of Brahmanical learning). These photographs depict the connection between the sculptures in the temples and Natya Shastra and related texts dealing with iconography.
