Jatamansi (जटामसी) in Nepali refers to the plant Nardostachys grandiflora or “spikenard” from the Caprifoliaceae or “honeysuckle family”. It is is mentioned as one of the “Protected plants of Nepal”. The photo also depicts the Rhizome (कन्द, kand/kanda).
The word Jatamansi can also be transliterated as Jaṭāmansi, Jaṭāmasi or Jatamasi.
