Description of the photo

This photograph shows a replica (pratirūpa) of the Mahabodhi Temple of Patan (पाटन, pāṭan/pāṭana). The Shikhara style temple (मन्दिर, mandir/mandira) is dedicated to Siddhartha Gautama, the historical Buddha which was built by priest Abhaya Raj Vajracharya of Patan. The temple is often called “the temple of thousand Buddhas” because a Buddha image is engraved on every brick of the temple.
