viṇēṃ (विणें).—v i (S To generate.) To bear, to bring forth young. Pr. vyālīcī vēdanā vyālīca jāṇē. Used of animals generally (beasts, birds, worms, reptiles &c.) with exception of the mare and ass; the bearing of these animals being expressed by the verb pasavaṇēṃ. Of woman it is used contemptuously. By the poets it is applied with characteristic license. Ex. gagana vyālēṃ vāyūtēṃ vāyu vyālā jalātēṃ &c. 2 To shoot out its kōṅkā;--used of the Plantain. 3 To get ophthalmia--the eyes. vyālī āṇi cāṭāyāsa visaralī (The cow calved but forgot to lick.) Used of a mother that has omitted duly to instruct and train up her children. 2 Used of a fool in general, of one who has begun and wantonly desisted.
