Source: Pali Kanon: Pali Proper NamesA monastery built by Pandukabhaya for the use of non Buddhist monks. It was near the Nicasusana in Anuradhapura. Vattagamani demolished it and built on its site the Abhayagiri vihara. Mhv.xxxiii.42, 83.
Theravāda is a major branch of Buddhism having the the Pali canon (tipitaka) as their canonical literature, which includes the vinaya-pitaka (monastic rules), the sutta-pitaka (Buddhist sermons) and the abhidhamma-pitaka (philosophy and psychology).
