Source: archive.org: Shiva Purana - English TranslationSvasevaka (स्वसेवक) refers to “one’s servant”, according to the Śivapurāṇa 2.3.20 (“The story of the submarine fire”).—Accordingly, as the Oceans said to Brahmā: “O Brahmā, the lord of all, why have you come here? Please command me with pleasure knowing me to be your servant [i.e., svasevaka]”.
The Purana (पुराण, purāṇas) refers to Sanskrit literature preserving ancient India’s vast cultural history, including historical legends, religious ceremonies, various arts and sciences.
