Shaivism (Shaiva philosophy)
Source: Brill: Śaivism and the Tantric TraditionsŚubhastha (शुभस्थ) refers to “(that which is) rooted in meritorious actions”, according to the Tantrāloka 15.23c–24b.—Accordingly, “There are two types of Sādhakas. The one following the Śaiva dharma [i.e. Śivadharmī] is free of mundane [observances]. The lokadharmī Sādhaka is desirous of fruits, rooted in meritorious [i.e., śubhastha] [actions] and free of impure [actions]”.
Shaiva (शैव, śaiva) or Shaivism (śaivism) represents a tradition of Hinduism worshiping Shiva as the supreme being. Closely related to Shaktism, Shaiva literature includes a range of scriptures, including Tantras, while the root of this tradition may be traced back to the ancient Vedas.
