Source: archive.org: Puranic EncyclopediaŚrāvastīpura (श्रावस्तीपुर).—Capital city of Śrāvasta, King of the Ikṣvāku dynasty. It was named "Śrāvastīpurī" or "Śrāvastīpura" because it was built by Śrāvasta, according to Mahābhārata, Vana Parva, Chapter 202, Verse 4.
The Purana (पुराण, purāṇas) refers to Sanskrit literature preserving ancient India’s vast cultural history, including historical legends, religious ceremonies, various arts and sciences.
