Source: academia.edu: A Study and Translation of the GaganagañjaparipṛcchāNimittānusārin (निमित्तानुसारिन्) refers to “one who is (entering into the consciousness of) following in accordance with the distinguishing marks (of sins)”, according to the Gaganagañjaparipṛcchā: the eighth chapter of the Mahāsaṃnipāta (a collection of Mahāyāna Buddhist Sūtras).—Accordingly, “Then the Bodhisattva Gaganagañja said this to the congregation of Bodhisattvas: ‘Sons of good family, may all of you elucidate the gates into the dharma of transcending the path of the works of Māra’ [...] The Bodhisattva Āryaratna said: ‘“Sin” is an accusation, and in such an accusation the Māra can find a weak point. What is the absence of sin is not to enter into the consciousness of following in accordance with the distinguishing marks [of sins] (nimittānusārin-vijñāna), and thus the Bodhisattva who is established in the limit of no distinguishing mark transcends the sphere of the māra’”.
