Nandapurī (नन्दपुरी) is the name of an ancient city, according to chapter 4.4 [anantanātha-caritra] of Hemacandra’s 11th century Triṣaṣṭiśalākāpuruṣacaritra: an ancient Sanskrit epic poem narrating the history and legends of sixty-three illustrious persons in Jainism.

Accordingly:—“Now in Jambūdvīpa in East Videha there is a fair city, Nandapurī, the birth-place of great joy. [...] Noble-minded, he felt disgust with worldly existence, like a clever city-man disgusted with living in a village. He went to Ṛṣi Vṛṣabha’s lotus-feet, pulled out his hair in five handfuls, and adopted good conduct. After cherishing good conduct like a garden bearing much fruit, he died, and became a chief-god in Sahasrāra”.
