Shaivism (Shaiva philosophy)
Source: SOAS University of London: Protective Rites in the Netra TantraKṛṣṇavastra (कृष्णवस्त्र) refers to “black garments”, according to the Svacchanda-tantra.—Accordingly, [verse 4.21-27, while describing inauspicious dreams]—“[...] [He] who sees black and red garments (kṛṣṇavastra—kṛṣṇaraktāni vastrāṇi) or an altered self [has inauspicious dreams]. In dreams [he] laughs and dances while [he] wears faded garlands, cuts up one's own flesh. [He dreams of] captivity, being eaten by a black snake, and [dreams of] a wedding. [If he] sees this in dreams, he is not successful”.
Shaiva (शैव, śaiva) or Shaivism (śaivism) represents a tradition of Hinduism worshiping Shiva as the supreme being. Closely related to Shaktism, Shaiva literature includes a range of scriptures, including Tantras, while the root of this tradition may be traced back to the ancient Vedas.
