Source: Pali Kanon: Pali Proper NamesOne of the great Yakkhas, mentioned in the Atanatiya Sutta, to be invoked when disciples of the Buddha are worried by evil spirits (D.iii.204). He is one of the vassals of the Four Regent Gods (D.ii.258).
Theravāda is a major branch of Buddhism having the the Pali canon (tipitaka) as their canonical literature, which includes the vinaya-pitaka (monastic rules), the sutta-pitaka (Buddhist sermons) and the abhidhamma-pitaka (philosophy and psychology).
