Source: Pali Kanon: Pali Proper NamesOne of the gardens laid out by Parakkamabahu I. (Cv.lxxix.12). There was a sluice of the Parakkamasamudda at the end of the garden, and from this sluice branched off the Salalavati canal (Cv.lxxix.43).
Theravāda is a major branch of Buddhism having the the Pali canon (tipitaka) as their canonical literature, which includes the vinaya-pitaka (monastic rules), the sutta-pitaka (Buddhist sermons) and the abhidhamma-pitaka (philosophy and psychology).
