Kannavāḍa is the name of a village mentioned in the “Miraj plates of Mārasiṃha”. The neighbouring villages mentioned in the present grant, viz. Kannavāḍa, Hāḍalivāḍa and Gālikuṭṭi are respectively identical with modern Kanvāḍ, Hasur and Ghalvāḍ which lie in the stated directions.

These plates (mentioning Kannavāḍa) were discovered at Miraj and deposited with the Bombay Branch of the Royal Asiatic Society. It records the grant by Mārasiṃha of the village Kuṇṭavāḍa, situated on the southern bank of the Kṛṣṇaverṇā. It was made on the occasion of the Uttarāyaṇa Saṅkrānti which occurred on Thursday, the seventh tithi of the bright fortnight of Pauṣa in the Saka year 980.
