General definition (in Hinduism)
Source: Google Books: Tantra, Its Mystic and Scientific BasisKāmavīja (कामवीज, “seed of creation”):—The scientific explanation of the Tāntric interpretation of creation will be like this. After the formation of the triangle of forces, the three fundamental principles could not maintain the state of equilibrium due to their belligerent nature. As a result of a constant clash amongst the three principles, it is but logical that the balance would be disturbed and the triangle of forces would burst from one of the vertices. The point from which the triangle of forces bursts out is Bīja.
It is called kāmavīja. It is the seed of creation. When this seed of creation is expressed in a metaphysical straight line it is called Nāda. It is dominated by the Sentient principle. But due to the activation or domination of the Static principle, the expression takes the form of a curvature known in Tantra as Kalā. With the creation of the curvature of Kalā, the phenomenal world comes into being. In the scientific language the universe is nothing but a collection of different waves or curvatures.
