Source: Pali Kanon: Pali Proper NamesA vihara in Ceylon erected by Aggabodhi I; he gave one hundred fields for its support (Cv.xlii.12). It was the residence of Cullapindapatiya Tissa (AA.i.367), and also of a novice, pupil of Tepitaka, called Culla Summa Thera. (DA.ii.514).
Theravāda is a major branch of Buddhism having the the Pali canon (tipitaka) as their canonical literature, which includes the vinaya-pitaka (monastic rules), the sutta-pitaka (Buddhist sermons) and the abhidhamma-pitaka (philosophy and psychology).
