Source: DDSA: The Molesworth Marathi and English Dictionaryḍōlaṇēṃ (डोलणें).—v i ( H from dula S) To walk nodding and waggling; to reel, stagger, roll, rock, totter. See ḍulaṇēṃ. These two words, as they are used interchangeably by the people, may be safely so used by the learner; yet there is a shade of difference. ḍulaṇēṃ implies more particularly involuntary agitation, or the rolling, rocking, tottering &c. of inanimate bodies; ḍōlaṇēṃ, affected or assumed motion, the undulations and flexures of display. And whilst jhukaṇēṃ means To move forwards and backwards, ḍōlaṇēṃ & ḍulaṇēṃ imply rather To move from side to side.
Marathi is an Indo-European language having over 70 million native speakers people in (predominantly) Maharashtra India. Marathi, like many other Indo-Aryan languages, evolved from early forms of Prakrit, which itself is a subset of Sanskrit, one of the most ancient languages of the world.
