Source: Wisdom Library: Brihat Samhita by VarahamihiraDhūpavilepana (धूपविलेपन) refers to “(perfumed) smoke and (fragrant) paste”, according to the Bṛhatsaṃhitā (chapter 12), an encyclopedic Sanskrit work written by Varāhamihira mainly focusing on the science of ancient Indian astronomy astronomy (Jyotiṣa).—Accordingly, “[...] I will now speak of the rules of the arghya (offering) to be presented to Agastya as stated by the Ṛṣis. [...] When the darkness of the night should just begin to be broken by streaks of red light from the eastern horizon, princes, previously prepared for the purpose, ought to offer their arghya to Agastya by pouring it on the Earth in the direction of the star Canopus rising in the south-east as will be pointed out by the astronomer. The offering to be made by princes in honor of Agastya shall consist of the fragrant flowers of the season, of fruits, of precious stones, of gold cloths, of cows, of bulls, of well-cooked rice, of sweet-meats, of curdled milk, of colored rice, of perfumed smoke and fragrant paste [i.e., surabhi-dhūpavilepana]”.
Jyotisha (ज्योतिष, jyotiṣa or jyotish) refers to ‘astronomy’ or “Vedic astrology” and represents the fifth of the six Vedangas (additional sciences to be studied along with the Vedas). Jyotisha concerns itself with the study and prediction of the movements of celestial bodies, in order to calculate the auspicious time for rituals and ceremonies.

Source: OSU Press: Cakrasamvara SamadhiDhūpavilepana (धूपविलेपन) refers to “incense and ointment”, according to the Guru Mandala Worship (maṇḍalārcana) ritual often performed in combination with the Cakrasaṃvara Samādhi, which refers to the primary pūjā and sādhanā practice of Newah Mahāyāna-Vajrayāna Buddhists in Nepal.—Accordingly, “All gods whoever in the earth and Nāgas, mountains with secret assemblies, Being a counter to, do once offer, the ghosts in each of your own directions. Seize satisfaction, along with your wives, children, servants and soldiers, Flowers, offerings, incense and ointment (dhūpavilepana), seize, enjoy, and be exuberant, And enjoy granting success in this work. [...]”.
