Cumb (चुम्ब्).—I. 1, 1. U. (cumbati-te, cumbayati-te, cumbita)

1) To kiss (fig. also); श्लिष्यति चुम्बति जलधरकल्पं हरिरुपगत इति तिमिरमनल्पम् (śliṣyati cumbati jaladharakalpaṃ harirupagata iti timiramanalpam) Gītagovinda 6; प्रियामुखं किंपुरुषश्चुचुम्बे (priyāmukhaṃ kiṃpuruṣaścucumbe) Kumārasambhava 3.38; Amaru. 16; H.4.132.

2) To touch softly, or graze; with परि (pari) to kiss; Ṛtusaṃhāra 6.18.; Amaruśataka 77. -II. 1. P. To hurt, kill.
