1. The religion which regards Śiva as the Supreme Being and is exclusively devoted to His worship, of sixteen sects, viz., ūrtta-caivam, aṉāti-caivam, āti-caivam, makā-caivam, pēta-caivam, apēta-caivam, antara-caivam, kuṇa-caivam, nirkkuṇa-caivam, attuvā-caivam, yōka-caivam, ñāṉa-caivam, aṇu-caivam, kiriyā-caivam, nālupāta-caivam, cutta-caivam; ஊர்த்தசைவம், அனாதி சைவம், ஆதிசைவம், மகாசைவம், பேதசைவம், அபேத சைவம், அந்தரசைவம், குணசைவம், நிர்க்குணசைவம், அத்துவாசைவம், யோகசைவம், ஞானசைவம், அணு சைவம், கிரியாசைவம், நாலுபாதசைவம், சுத்தசைவம் என்று பதினாறுவகைப்பட்டதாய்ச் சிவனைப் பரதசாஸ்திரம்ெய்வ மாகக்கொண்டு வழிபடுஞ் சமயம்.
