Bandhahetu (बन्धहेतु) refers to the “cause of bondage”, according to the Maṇḍalabrāhmaṇopaniṣad (verse 4.5).—Accordingly, “The mind, in which there is intentional thinking and so on, is the cause of bondage (bandhahetu). The mind devoid of [intentional thinking and so on] leads to liberation”.
