Source: Encyclopedia of Jainism: Tattvartha SutraAnanugāmi (अननुगामि, “preceding”) refers to “which does not go with the owner from one state to another” and represents one of the six types of guṇapratyaya: a category of knowledge (jñāna) obtained by clairvoyance (avadhi-jñāna), according to Tattvārthasūtra 1.21.
What is meant by ananugāmi or non-following clairvoyance? Ananugāmi clairvoyance is the knowledge which does not go with the owner from one place or state to another (not following the owner). How many types of non-following clairvoyant knowledge are there? There are three types of this clairvoyant knowledge namely place (kṣetra), realm (bhava) and evolving (ubhaya).
